evangelism committee

The Evangelism Committee is very important to the perpetuation and growth of our congregation. Our goals are directly aligned with the goal of the mission statement: "A loving Christian Community whose Ministry is Reading, Teaching and Accepting People of All ages". Our congregation strongly supports the idea that we need to grow from within and to grow by adding new members. This committee gives members a way to accomplish both of those ideas.

It is difficult to predetermine the time commitment to this committee because different endeavors take different time commitments. The best way to find this out is by simply joining our committee during our normal monthly meeting. We normally meet on the third Monday of each month from 7:00 pm until approximately 8:30 pm. Members of our committee are involved in a variety of activities which promote the ongoing well-being of our congregation.

A list of the Evangelism Committee's current activities include:

  • Providing a welcoming environment at Trinity Lutheran Church

  • Encouraging more involvement from active and inactive members

  • Visitation with each visitor to Trinity

  • Advertising - using signs, television, radio, internet website, brochures & newspaper & other written publications

  • Christmas, Easter & Rally Day invitations to the community

  • "Bring A Friend Sunday"

  • Information Table at the Peach Fest

  • "Return To The Flock Sunday"

  • Being a member of our committee is fun and a very rewarding experience. We need your help. New ideas and extra help are always appreciated. We genuinely want people in our community to view Trinity as the place to be!

    Worship & Music Committee

Our mission statement is to encourage lay participation of all ages to enhance and inspire weekly worship services.

The Worship and Music Committee meets quarterly (January, April, July and October). We sponsor a social and also provide inspiration for the October bulletin board.

The functions of the Worship and Music Committee are varied. Many people assume they must possess musical abilities to be a part of this aspect of the church. Committee membership is open to anyone who expresses an interest to volunteer. We like to have a broad spectrum of participants on the committee.

Worship and Music is responsible for a whole host of subcommittees, all of which contribute to make our worship experience complete. Many of these ministries take a few minutes of your time every so often.

ACOLYTES – This is a worthwhile service for our youth. Periodic training is held during the Sunday School hour or individual instruction can be given. Alice Breon provides the training.

USHERS – We all know the importance of our ushers preparing for worship and during the service itself. Teams are set up with each team having a captain. Each captain is assigned certain Sundays throughout the year. The more names for our lists make scheduling easy. Nancy Fischer currently works with our ushering teams.

GREETERS – What an important job this is! What a fun way to make new friends, greet old friends. Currently Eleanor Storck prepares the schedule.

LECTORS – if you enjoy spreading the Word of the Lord, speak with Dennis Hallman. Two lectors are needed each week.

ALTAR GUILD – There are many functions of the Altar Guild including communion preparation, altar preparation, seasonal decorating and flower delivery.

CD MINISTRY – Services are duplicated immediately following the services. Our wish list includes having a team of volunteers who would like to learn the sound board and duplicate the CD’s each week. CD’s are mailed each week to a list of homebound members.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTRY – We currently have seven Eucharistic Ministers. Visiting homebound members or those in nursing homes is a very rewarding ministry. There is a one-day training session required and dates and times each year are available to those who are interested. Contact Peggy Diefenderfer, Jean Hafler, Michael Kuhnert, Darlene Mory, Linda Nicholson, Doris Scheetz, or Kitty Shaw.

MUSIC MINISTRY - Of course no worship service would be complete without music and we at Trinity certainly are enjoying the best music has to offer with our Ministers of Music, John Schwartz and Michael Kuhnert. Following are the musical opportunities currently offered at Trinity:

  • Preschool – 2nd grade

  • “Lambs of Love” Cherub Choir – Rehearsals during Sunday School. Sing on selected dates in worship.

  • Grades 1- 8

  • “Expressions of Hope Junior Choir” – Rehearsals Wednesdays 5:15 – 6 p.m.

  • Grades 4 – 8

  • “Young Ringers” Handbell Choir – Rehearsals Wednesdays 6 – 6:45 p.m.

  • Grade 9 & up

  • “Echoes of Faith” Handbell Choir – Rehearsals Thursdays 7 – 8p.m.

  • Grades 9 & up

  • “Sounds of Praise” Chancel Choir – Rehearsals Wednesdays 7 – 8:30 p.m.

    Property Committee and Work Crew

The Property Committee is concerned with the upkeep and enhancement of the church property and oversees the work done in and around our buildings. The committee meets once every other month to discuss the Church’s infrastructure needs such as structural and masonry repairs, heating/ventilation/air-conditioning improvements, plumbing repairs, electrical modifications and overall property upkeep.

The meetings are used to plan, and develop a course of action to meet the property needs. The directives of the committee are taken to the Congregational Council as recommendations for further consideration and possible action.

A sub-committee to the Property Committee is the work crew. This group meets on the second Monday of each month. The work crew gathers in the morning and discusses property maintenance concerns. After the meeting, they proceed to address property maintenance matters such as painting, cleaning, equipment repair, weatherizing, electrical maintenance, and general property repair. The work crew plays an integral role in maintaining the property on a regular basis and handles the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the Church.

Volunteers for the property committee and work crew are always needed and welcomed.

To volunteer and gain more information, please speak to Bill Bohner or Charlie Scheetz.
